Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy For Your Surgical Needs
Therapy that aims to support your goals!
What Is Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy?
The face, mouth, and tongue muscles must be positioned properly to speak, eat, and breathe. Myofunctional therapy helps clients of all ages with orofacial myofunctional disorders, such as tongue thrusting, to eat, breathe, or talk more efficiently.
For people with orofacial myofunctional disorders, myofunctional treatment combines various exercise therapies to address the bite, breath, and poor facial rest posture (OMDs). The training focuses on the soft tissues of the orofacial complex (face, neck, and mouth) to achieve the ideal tongue position and posture for oral relaxation. All ages can be affected by OMDs, and treatment is tailored to your age and symptoms.
Symptoms of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs)
A person who never uses their nose and constantly breathes through their mouth.
Lack of tongue movement.
Current or History of messy or challenging eating.
An underbite, overbite, or further dental issues.
Even when not talking or using the tongue, the tongue protrudes past the teeth.
Drooling, particularly after age 2.
A challenge in swallowing with the mouth closed.
Causes of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder (OMD)
Blocked nasal passageways because of allergies or large tonsils. Some people may need to breathe through their mouths when their nasal passages are congested.
Anything that makes it difficult to keep the lips together at rest or causes the tongue to be misplaced.
The habit of chewing and sucking after the age of three.
How We Solve OMD Problems
Rebecka creates individualized programs to retrain your orofacial muscles and improve function. One of the goals of the individualized program is to normalize the tongue's and lips' resting posture, develop patterns of nasal breathing, and eradicate harmful habits.
