What To Expect For Your First 2 Visits

30 minute - New client evaluations are scheduled online via Telehealth.

It is crucial to perform a comprehensive intake before initiating any form of treatment. This allows us to gather relevant information about your medical history, symptoms, and discomfort, ensuring that we are well-informed before proceeding with any treatment.

Before beginning the session, it is important to ask the specific questions related to your medical history. This includes inquiring about any previous injuries or surgeries, chronic conditions, medications they are currently taking, and any relevant family medical history. Additionally, it is essential to discuss your specific symptoms or discomfort, such as pain, stiffness, or limitations in movement.

By gathering this information, we can identify potential risk factors, contraindications, and precautions that may affect the choice of treatment and / or exercises during each session. It also helps us understand your goals and expectations from therapy.

During the initial intake session, we will discuss the muscles of your face, and orofacial complex. These muscles play a vital role in various functions like swallowing, speaking, and facial expressions.

The 2nd visit may be a massage session in our Seattle office (dependent upon discussion in our first visit.)

If needed, we will assess muscular strength, range of motion, and endurance, various techniques can be employed during this visit.

  • These may include manual muscle testing, measuring joint range of motion, assessing endurance through repetitive movements, and observing for any signs of fatigue or pain.

Conducting a comprehensive treatment session along with the information in your initial intake, is vital as it allows us to gather a plan that addresses your specific needs and goals. Factors such as your medical history, lifestyle, previous injuries, and overall physical condition must be considered.

Failure to perform both sessions (as needed) can lead to inadequate treatment, missed opportunities for early intervention, and potentially exacerbating your symptoms or discomfort. Without a thorough understanding of your condition, we may overlook underlying issues, leading to ineffective or inappropriate treatment approaches.

In summary, comprehensive treatment before initiating a plan enables us to tailor our approach, accurately assess muscular strength, range of motion, and endurance, and develop an effective treatment plan to help the you achieve your desired outcomes.

Expect to spend up to 30 minutes for your initial intake consultation and up to 50 minutes in your treatment session.
